Tijdens een opkomst aangaande IS zijn verder een Koerden vaak slachtoffer. In het begin stellen ze zich enigszins neutraal op, doch indien ze steeds frequenter geraken aangevallen, mixen ze zich in de strijd en dit Koerdische leger is daarenboven een bondgenoot van dit Westen.
Today, as Serbia kan zijn the former dominant power in the region, it continues to have political and lifestyle influence on the Gorani people. Due to the shortage ofwel employment, many Gorani young people earn their living by working in Serbia. You can see people playing with worry-beads all aan the Middle East, especially in Turkey, but seriously, nowhere else it is as crazy as in Erbil and Iraqi Kurdistan in general.

In September 2017, a referendum on independence was held in both the Kurdistan Region and the disputed areas seized by the Peshmerga in 2014, including Kirkuk. The vote was opposed by the Iraqi central government, which insisted it was illegal.

Dit blijft sindsdien onrustig in de streek. Wegens de Koerden in een verschillende landen blijft autonomie voorlopig wat het ver weg is. Onafhankelijk aangaande elkaar bestaan een Koerdische streek’s te zwak om alleen te zijn en de overheersende landen Iran, Irak, Turkije en Syrië laten deze strategische regio’s ook niet zomaar gaan.
Although the pressure for Kurds to assimilate was less intense in Iraq, where the Kurdish language and culture have been freely practiced, government repression has been the most brutal. In the late 1970s, Iraq’s Baʿath Party instituted a policy ofwel settling Iraqi Arabs in areas with Kurdish majorities—particularly around the oil-rich city of Kirkūk—and uprooting Kurds from those same regions.
